More than two dozen books and thousands of magazine features later, Janet is a full-time writer whose lance remains free.

Groene began freelancing in earnest as a way to work at home and choose her own hours when her husband, Gordon, was a professional pilot. While still in their young 30's the couple sold everything, bought a sailing sloop and left cold winters behind. For ten years, the Groenes were happily homeless, sailing the tropics in winter and summering in their fully self-contained, 21-foot diesel RV.

It soon became clear that Janet’s writing and Gordon’s photography could sustain them in a new career as professional travelwriters. When assignments began taking them all over the world to write about sailing and powerboating they sold their boat and settled in Florida. They still have the RV. Gordon’s health keeps him closer to home now so, when they aren’t traveling in the RV, Janet travels alone now to most of her assignments

Janet Groene is an Active Member of:
American Society of Journalists & Authors
Boating Writers International
Society of American Travel Writers

Janet Groene Writing Awards
1st Place, Best Consumer-Oriented Online Article ACC/SATW;
Distinguished Achievement in RV Journalism Award;
NMMA Director’s Award (with Gordon Groene);
Parenting Publications of America Gold Award for Travel Writing
and many others

Janet Groene’s  Ongoing Columns

Camper’s Kitchen, TrailBlazer magazine
Cooking on the Go, Family Motor Coaching magazine
Family Travel, South Florida Parenting magazine and e-zine
Full-timer’s Primer in Family Motor Coaching
Living Aboard in Houseboat

Frequent contributor to City & shore (Fort Lauderdale) and Forever Young (Canada).
